The Facade of Luxury & Trap of Fame
Many people would love to be wealthy and live a life of luxury. But what does a life of luxury entail? In a nutshell, it's being able to buy designer things, go to fancy restaurants/lounges, and being invited to exclusive events. Being able to buy designer, if you’re around average people, that may provoke them to jealousy and could put a target on your back… and if you’re around well-off people, they are so used to designer, that you wearing it will mean practically nothing. Fancy restaurants serve you the same food but just more expensive (and sometimes the portion sizes are smaller.) As for going to exclusive events, you’re there for a few hours, then everyone goes home. Oh and you might have the chance to ride in a private jet, which is just an airplane but smaller. All these things, one gets used to so quickly and they lose their appeal. Many people long for a life like this because of its mystery. And prideful celebrities with low self-esteem hype up this lifestyle on social media to feel some kind of validation, when in reality when they go home many feel empty inside. That lifestyle is a facade. If only people knew this before signing contacts. Also fame. It may seem glamorous for everyone to know your name, but what about your privacy? And your kid’s privacy? Any situation that happens can be quickly handled and forgotten but for the famous, everyone knows about your life and has an opinion. Most of the time, without even knowing the true facts. I know fame can feel like being in a glass cage. Like you’re trapped (because once people know of you, they can’t un-know of you) and like your life is pretty much under a magnifying glass. No one really talks about this though. They just post the glamour shots to provoke jealousy or maybe even to convince themselves that they are truly happy. The enemy is great at making trash look glittery. I’m sure not all famous people feel trapped. But know that a lot do. This explains why many rich and famous people seemingly having it all, have taken their own lives. If only they had known the truth about Christ and that real life is only found in Him and that luxury and fame are a facade.
